COMMON SWIMMING POOL PROBLEMS

COMMON SWIMMING POOL PROBLEMS

Swimming pools are a great way to relax and refresh on a hot day. However, swimming pools also come with their own set of problems that can cause stress and frustration if they’re not managed. Here are some common swimming pool problems to keep an eye on.

pH Levels

Your pH levels need to be balanced. If not, then extra algae can grow in your pool, which not only looks bad, but can cause corrosion. Chlorine will also not be as effective if your pH is out of balance. You should be checking this at least every week to nip any problems in the bud.

Energy Consumption and Efficiency

When you heat your water, you want it to be as efficient as possible to keep your energy costs down and to keep the system from working too hard. It can be difficult to do this because of things like shading at certain times of day, or a changing climate, or even the difference between temperatures at daytime and nighttime. Keeping it at the temperature you want can be a challenge.

Leaky Plumbing

If there is a leak in the plumbing of a pool, then there is a risk for a lot of damage not just to the pool, but to the surrounding property. Not to mention the increase in water bills. Make sure that if you suspect a leak you get it inspected and repaired as quickly as possible.

Filtration

You should be cleaning your filter regularly to make sure that water flows freely through the system. A clogged filter can lead to a multitude of further issues. You can backwash your filter to clear out debris and keep the water flowing freely.

The Safety of Swimmers

If it is your pool, then that means that you are responsible for the safety of everyone using it, and anyone who might come close to it. That might mean having water wings and other safety devices for children. Special rules that everyone knows and understands, and a fence or barrier to keep non-swimmers from entering the area.

Owning a pool can be a joy and a pleasure, but it is important to remember that it comes with responsibilities. Keep an eye out for these problems to keep the good times rolling.
